Add Labels Below Post Title In Blogger Blog

You may have wanted to add labels/categories to your blog if its not available in your template. Labels are categories that you post a particular article in. Say i make a post about search engine optimization. When i complete the post i would add (SEO) in the label section of the post in blogger post editor as shown below.

 Labels are said to be useful in search engine optimization and are liked by search engines. Adding 2-3 labels is more than enough. Normally you can activate these labels in the default blogger template by going in edit option of 'Blog Post' widget in Design tab. But today we will be adding the labels section manually in the Edit HTML as it would help those who use custom blogger templates.

So lets get started.

Step 1:

Go to Design >> Edit HTML and tick the check box. You may want to download the template for backup purposes.

Now search for the following code.

<div class='post-header-line-1'/>

Step 2:

Once you found the above code, paste the following code just below it.

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;'>
<div class='postmeta-secondary'>
<span class='meta_categories'>Posted in:  <b:if cond='data:post.labels'><b:loop values='data:post.labels' var='label'><a expr:href='data:label.url'
rel='tag'><data:label.name/></a><b:if cond='data:label.isLast != &quot;true&quot;'>, </b:if></b:loop></b:if></span>
</div>
</b:if>
Now click save template. If you want to change the text saying 'Posted in:' you can replace the text of your choice in the code above. This code enables the labels section to be displayed only on the post pages. So in case you want the labels to be shown on the main blog page too, then simply remove the two conditional codes as shown below in red colour.

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;'>
<div class='postmeta-secondary'>
<span class='meta_categories'>Posted in:  <b:if cond='data:post.labels'><b:loop values='data:post.labels' var='label'><a expr:href='data:label.url'
rel='tag'><data:label.name/></a><b:if cond='data:label.isLast != &quot;true&quot;'>, </b:if></b:loop></b:if></span>
</div>
</b:if>
Thats all. Hope that was easy to implement. Leave you comment below in case you have any problems. :)
