Content Or Backlinks? Which One Is King?

Blogging beginners often get confused between the importance of adding quality content to their blogs. Getting back links is one of their top priorities. That is often in the form of achieving a higher Google page rank. Couple of days back i was watching the video from Matt Cutts (Google software Engineer), where he talked about the similar issue. I have shared below in the post.

Without wasting any time, i would lay down my support for the 'Building quality content'. Its surely a king. Though for the sake of such question (that has to be answered in YES or NO) i got to choose 'quality content as THE king', BUT its worth noting that these both (content and backlinks) are attributes of a authority site/blog.

One attracts another.

How Quality Content Attracts Quality Backlinks?

Its simple. You write great content for your readers and provide them with what 'they want'. When they leave comments, share the post in their social circles, bookmark them or mention your blog post on their blogs, you would get links from them.

The only reason why people would like to link to your content is the quality and help that you would provide to them. Mediocre content means no interaction between the readers and the writer and would end up being a junk of text and nothing more.

Moving even further, lets examine why some articles online get viral? The nature of those articles are such that attracts the readers world wide. The articles are laid down for the vast audience and thus ends up in get Technorati etc thus bring thousands of visitors instantly.

So concentrating on content first and then moving on to building back links would be the right approach.  Though the more multitasking you could show up, the better it is. That is, that say you keep on building articles for your blog daily, and writes a guest post for any of the popular blogs each weekend would be a great strategy.

That would bring solid high page rank back links that would support your quality content and help it shine in the search results.

Whats The Crunch?

Concentrate on creating content frequently, with guest posting to bring back links too side by side.

Such a condition would be a total waste of time, money and efforts. A more positive approach would, though be 'time consuming', but is totally worth the efforts. That could even take more than an year to get to a considerable point in blogging career BUT that would be solid state!

You wont be loosing that with Panda type updates. Matt Cutts explains the topic in the video below. Have a look at it.
