Today I will acquaint you with some productive and efficient ways to progress with your freelance photography business.

1) Building A Blog

This is the first and foremost step to execute when starting any freelance business. You need to show in your efforts and seriousness towards it by creating a website. It is recommended that you make the website in HTML which is comprehensive to navigate through. More importantly you will need to maintain a blog where you publish daily in order to keep the clients updated with your work.

2) Dealing Difficult Things First

You will find yourself in scenarios where you will get the jobs early on in your freelancing career. However you should not be over enthusiastic about such opportunities to an extent of undermining the knitty details of the project you bid on. Sometimes you bid on the project and later come into understanding about the so many difficult tasks that seem impossible later. So never miss to read before you get your hands on to it.

3) Keep In Mind The Budget

You should be confident and pretty much sure about the budget that you want to maintain as a freelance photographer. Do not under bid on the projects as this will make the client feel that you are inexperienced. Do not over bid on them too as you definitely would not like to lose the project either.

The best is to go through every minor detail of the project and then come to working terms with the client. This way you will be able to tell your client before hands if he wants to make any further changes in the project that do not meet the requirements inside the allocated budget.

4) Responsiveness

If you are getting a feedback, then think of it as your duty to oblige the act and respond immediately. Being ill responsive leaves a very lethargic image of you. So stay in a flow of responsive attitude via emails with your clients.

5) Stay Reliable

Never forget to post your updated Resume and number of jobs completed, referrals and client list on your website and web links, this will develop your reputation. Keep in mind the below points:

  • Do not make a pledge that you are unable to fulfill, like completing the project within certain time. Always try to finish your project one day before the deadline but do not make over promises.
  • Don’t be Mr. Humble and nice, charge more for immediate work, you may do the first emergency hour job at a reasonable price to get the acquaintance but let them know there will be an extra charge in the future, as their lack of planning does not constitute an emergency for you.
  • Keep adding, whatever skills you learn, on your profile. Being a better photographer then others , you might preferred over others.
Freelancing is a good way to earn but it can get hard if you are cashing in something like photography. You need to be skillful enough to get hired because there is no meeting with the client. You need to earn the reputation by working hard and following the above mentioned steps.
