How To Create A Backup Of Your Facebook Data & Photos


Your Facebook archive includes sensitive info like your private Wall posts, photos and profile information. Please keep this in mind before storing or sending your archive.


For how long have you been using Facebook? At some point you must have thought about keeping a copy of the data set that exists in your Facebook account. Right ? Even if you didn't, just give a shot at believing that someone broke through your Facebook password and hacked your account. Apart from the inevitable fact that your data might become subject to misuse, you will eventually end up losing all of it since there was no physical backup that you maintained.

In case you want to keep another copy of your Facebook data, both text and photos, Facebook themselves provide you with this option. Yes ! You might have never noticed this before but there exist an option which allows you to archive all your Facebook photos, posts and messages.

Here are three simple steps that will help you achieve this.

Step # 1: Click on the settings button on the top right corner of your Facebook.

Step # 2: From the drop-down menu, select Account settings.

Step # 3: At the bottom of the list of settings,there resides an option "Download a copy of your Facebook data". This is shown in the figure below. Click on this option.


Download a copy of your Facebook data.


Step # 4: Click on "Start my archive". This will start making archive of the Facebook data that exists on your account.

What Data Will The Archive Contain?

You might be wondering if this will create a copy of the entire Facebook data that exists though your  account. Well the answer is obviously a NO. The process will help you download data which includes the following:

  • Photos or videos you've shared on Facebook
  • Your Wall posts, messages and chat conversations
  • Your friends' names and some of their email addresses


The process as easy as it looks might take comprehensive amount of time to create the archive. However you need to keep in mind that this archive contains private and sensitive information that you must avoid sharing.
