MixBit - A YouTube's Sibling To Hit The Internet Market Soon

You must have already heard about Google's recent announcement to shut down YouTube soon. You didn't ? Well that is fairly ok because the news was as fake as any other April fool hoax would be. Although the news turned out to be false, thankfully, another announcement regrading the launch of a new website, by the YouTube co-founder Chand Hurley has taken the internet with a storm.

Chad Hurley does not talk anout any other normal website, but he announced the soon release of yet another video site with additional functions as compared to the YouTube. He announced his plans earlier in the month at SXSW and from what it seems, it might be a collaborative video site to YouTube.

MixBit

He recently tweeted about the video site as MixBit, which will be the name of this joint venture. Although the site might take another week or two for the official launcher, but the landing page is ready as menioned in the tweet by Chad Hurley.

What Might Be New MixBit?

As mentioned by the co-founder, MixBit is set to feature additional functions as compared to the YouTube. These new features can be inferred from his recent statement which reads “instead of sitting around, we thought you’d want a new site to not only watch cat videos, but create them…together!”.

It can be well fetched from his statement that MixaBit will not just be website to watch and upload videos but also create them in collabaoration with other users.

He also clarified that MixBit will not be launched as a competitor to YouTube but it will rather be its supplement. Althought there is not much news on any specific date of its arrival but another news on the update might be revealed very shortly. Until then keep anticipating for the exciting news.

So what are your initial thoughts on MixBit ? Excited right ? Don't forget to share you views on comments.

MixBit is being developed by Avos, the startup co-founded by Hurley and Chen that also bought Delicious.com in 2011.
